Empty-bottle inspection for the low output segment

18 May, 2007 | JL Lennard Pty Ltd

Since the smaller breweries and beverage producers also need a high degree of dependability in their bottling operations, Krones has come up with an empty-bottle inspector designed specifically for mid-tier applications. The Smartronic K 714 has a machine rating of maximum 18,000 containers an hour. It features high-resolution DART (distributed architecture for real time) camera technology and is operated from a 12.5 cm touch screen. The Series 1000 alcohol analyser is a near infrared transmission spectrometer designed to measure alcohol in wine, beer and any other clear beverage. The instrument is based on a solid-state diode array optics system that scans from 860 to 1020 nm. Within this spectral region, O-H and C-H bonds absorb NIR energy. The O-H groups measure the water and alcohol in the sample and the C-H compensate for sugars, organic acids and other hydrocarbons in the beverages.

Smooth move

11 April, 2007 | Vibration Systems & Solutions (Australia) Pty Ltd

While the more common drive for vibratory conveyors is by electric vibrating motors, their physical characteristics make them inherently unsuitable for very large strokes and long conveyor lengths, since they need to drive through the centre of gravity of the tray. To obtain a true linear action two motors are needed with consequent increase in weight and complexity.
