Included with the meter is the carrying case, rubber boot, battery and tripod.

Turck LI-Q17 miniature linear displacement sensor

23 April, 2011 | Supplied by: Turck Australia Pty Ltd

Designed for very short measuring ranges between 50 and 200 mm, Turck has developed a miniature linear displacement sensor, the LI-Q17, uniting all the positive qualities of customary measuring systems in one solution. The LI-Q17 doesn’t work with a magnetic locator but with the resonant circuit measuring principle, where an object’s position is detected via an inductive oscillating system, consisting of a condenser and a coil. The sensor is able to work reliably where the functionality of a magnetic position device is massively affected by electromagnetic fields - caused by large motors or welding plants.

Reducing fruit juice decanting time

24 March, 2011 | Supplied by: Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group

Cavitation and noise issues initially prompted industry-leading beverage giant Halewood International to seek an alternative to its existing centrifugal pumps when decanting sugars and fruit juice concentrates from tankers arriving at its UK headquarters in Merseyside. Installing three sinusoidal pumps proved successful in a number of ways, not least because unloading times for sugars have been halved and, for syrups, more than quartered.

Optimising the efficiency of VSD air compressors

24 March, 2011 | Supplied by: Hitachi Global Air Power

Variable speed drive (VSD) technology is increasingly being deployed in many air compressor applications to cater for variable loads. As a result, developments for the motor/drive component and the compressor itself continue to improve. Sean Richardson, Product Manager with WEG Australia, and Andrew Dove, Product Development Manager with Sullair Australia, discuss the implications of the WEG motor/drive technology incorporated into Sullair’s Champion range of VSD air compressors.

Cleanroom technology ensures longer-lasting produce

10 March, 2011

Current consumer demand is for fresh food products but also, paradoxically, for foods that keep for longer. In response to this, cleanroom technology is changing to ensure hygienic preparation and processing of food products to allow foods to be stored for longer without spoiling.
