Atago PAL-Alpha pocket refractometer

Tuesday, 13 September, 2011 | Supplied by: John Morris Scientific Pty Ltd

Atago’s PAL-Alpha refractometer is suitable for almost any food sample and has a Brix measurement range of 0.0 to 85%. Measurement values are displayed within 3 s.

The refractometer is lightweight (100 g), compact and ergonomically designed for one-handed operation. By reducing the number of unnecessary assembly parts such as the grip, Atago has minimised the risks of creating an unhygienic environment. The PAL-Alpha is also water resistant, can be washed under running water and only requires standard tap water for calibration. The device comes with a sturdy storage case and optional strap holder.

It is equipped with a temperature display and compensation range from 10 to 100°C. With automatic temperature compensation, high temperature samples can be measured during heating or cooking.

Typical applications include: outdoor vegetable fields and fruit orchards; indoor food and beverage facilities; fruit and vegetable packing facilities; restaurants/shops; and schools/universities. Due to its External Light Interference feature, the PAL-Alpha even works in bright sunlight and under other strong external light sources.
