Krones MouldXpress Advanced mould-changing system

Krones’ MouldXpress Advanced system downsizes the changeover time for moulds in the Contiform, improving the availability levels of the stretch blow-moulding machine.

The semiautomatic system integrated into the blowing wheel shortens the changeover time from about 3.5 to <1 min per blow-moulding station.

The different mould sets are kept securely in a changing trolley. Unambiguous identification of the moulds using appropriately designated compartments reduces the risk of installation errors. With a rotating function principle, the removal position is always the same for the operator.

The system is used in Contiform blow-moulding machines of the S16 to S28 series for the standard process and for relax-type moulds with neck cooling. The semiautomatic system reduces the make-ready time by up to 75%, improving overall equipment effectiveness. Another advantage is that mould changeovers are always carried out with consistent quality and, as no tools are required, they are less onerous and less time-consuming for the operator.
