Bosch Packaging Technology PreVAS disposable filling system

Thursday, 07 July, 2011 | Supplied by: Nupac Industries Pty Ltd

The Bosch Packaging Technology PreVAS is a disposable filling system concept from a single source. The system is said to have a number of advantages including: lower cleaning and downtime during production, reduced sterilisation requirements and the prevention of cross-contamination.

Developed in cooperation with a partner for disposable materials, the system provides users with the benefit from the synergy between filling system competence from a machine manufacturer and a plastic manufacturer with sterilisation know-how.

Flow behaviour, interfaces, tubing layout, distribution and connection point aspects are designed using a holistic approach. In addition, questions such as the introduction of materials into a qualified area like a sterile room or isolator are solved with the concept. The Bosch mock-ups have been useful in creating operator-friendly layouts of transfer ports and glove ports.

A further development of the Bosch peristaltic pump permits a tool-less and single-handed tubing change which is suited to isolators. The pump is available, not only for volumes up to 500 mL, but also in an autoclavable version with a removable pump head and connections made from Peak plastics.
