After extensive research into the food tray sealing market, and considering equipment from seven other multinational companies, Packaging Automation's PA182 MAP-F machine was chosen by Eco Smart Technologies, based in New South Wales.

Eco Smart Technologies was looking for a tray sealing machine to help bring its Build-a-Platter concept to market quickly and efficiently. This design consists of modular sealed and gas flushed food packages that interlock to form combination platters. The concept, which is being targeted at food manufacturers of deli meats and salads supplying to supermarkets and caterers, is suitable for a wide range of products including dips, pre-packed cheese, confectionery, crudit's, fresh produce and fruit.

Les Knebl, CEO and managing director of Eco Smart Technologies said: We carried out extensive research before our selection of the PA machine. None of the other companies we looked at could match the exacting requirements, efficiency and flexibility we needed for this groundbreaking product. We felt the PA machine offered the perfect solution for our complex design requirement in particular, the ability to pre-cut the top film to prevent it from covering the interlocking segments as well as offering modified atmosphere packaging.
