Multi-lane metal detection system for meat patties

Dynamic Inspection recently supplied a Fortress four-lane metal detection system for inspecting frozen meat patties to an Australian manufacturer.

The patties are randomly presented to the detector where they are separated into four lanes which travel through a single search head. The Fortress search head is comprised of four separate apertures with a single patty being inspected by each one. The main advantage of this approach is that there is only minimal widening of the conveyor belt to accommodate a single search head as opposed to installing four individual metal detectors. All four heads are controlled from the one control panel which streamlines operator access.

The Fortress detector is capable of detecting down to 0.3 mm ferrous, 0.4 mm non ferrous and 0.5 mm stainless steel. Individual patties are inspected and rejected via a raise-flap reject system into a reject bin.
