Chemlam PTFE-coated fabrics are high-performance laminates manufactured by Saint Gobain Performance Plastics.
Chemlam are a range of flexible, non-porous PFTE (Teflon) composites that combine the features of multi-layer PTFE films with the strength of reinforced fabric.
Typically used in food processing for conveyor belts for grills, baking and cooling processes, cryogenic freezing, heat sealing or as non-stick liners, Chemlam laminates are suitable for applications where resistance to chemicals, extreme heat and sticking are demanding.
Chemlam Heatbelts have coatings that are built up in layers (similar to multiple dipping of a candle) to produce a crack- and pinhole-free surface. The lack of cracks and pinholes offer many important benefits, including ease of cleaning, because there are no anchor points for contaminates. Because the laminates better protect reinforcement materials, the belt or surface retains its mechanical properties for longer.
The mechanical properties produced by Chemlam mean thinner materials can be used and, thus, the temperature heat sealing bars can be reduced, offering a lower operating cost due to less heat energy being required. Chemlam coatings have high dielectric strength, extreme thermal range (-150 to +260°C), good dimensional stability, fire resistance, low shrinkage and flex resistance.
Heatbelts are suitable for applications ranging from food, beverage, chemical and plastics processing and packaging to energy, environmental and protective systems requiring low chemical permeation, easy decontamination, flame resistance and outdoor durability.
