National Starch Food Innovation has launched the Value Matters program, which is a global initiative to help companies stay competitive.

The initiative encompasses a twofold approach to maximising value by combining reformulation consultancy with targeted ingredient tools. Drawing on its technical and application experience, National Starch Food Innovation is offering users access to a global network of contacts charged with re-examining users’ recipes to optimise cost and consumer satisfaction.

On identifying opportunities for adding value, starch-based alternatives can be provided to replace conventional but costly ingredients. By replicating essential texture, performance and shelf life, multifunctional starches significantly streamline production costs without sacrificing consumer appeal.

To support the initiative, a dedicated microsite (www.foodinnovation.com/valuematters) provides manufacturers with insights into value-adding opportunities across the whole NPD landscape. Dairy, meat, beverages and bakery are among the sectors explored from a value-for-money perspective.
