Virtual Exhibitions — a new way to share, learn and network

Bürkert provides automation technology solutions for the food and beverage industry, to help support futureproofing for its customers. Today’s manufacturing of foods, juices, energy drinks, beer and dairy products needs robust communication combined with smart automation control technologies.

While most food and beverage businesses have adopted process automation in one format or another, the technology has evolved considerably over the past few years leading to improvements in design, efficiency and reliability.

Some of the major drivers for businesses to increase levels of automation are associated with risk aversion, improving competitiveness in a challenging marketplace, improved diagnostics management of their assets whilst also managing and reducing production costs.

As a registered not-for-profit organisation, the Australian Institute of Food Science & Technology (AIFST) has been around since the 60s, nationally offering an independent voice and network to Australia’s food industry professionals.

AIFST represents thousands of food industry professionals working in all facets of the food industry including food science, food technology, engineering, sensory, new product development, innovation, regulatory, QA, nutrition, microbiology and food safety, as well as those in leadership positions within the academic, industry and private sectors.

Throughout the years, the highlight of the AIFST calendar is their annual convention where they bring the industry together to hear from leaders from the food and food science industry who share their knowledge, insights and learning across a range of key areas. This event also features trade exhibitors and partners key to the food science industry. Since the cancellations of conventions and trade events across the globe, AIFST looked for another way to bring together the industry, and as a result has embarked on a new venture to offer the food industry an opportunity to attend a virtual event and exhibition.

In June 2020, Bürkert will participate in the virtual event that will host a number of industry partners and sponsors in a way never before experienced. Bürkert Pacific’s Marketing Manager, Pauline Boyd, shares, “This is a wonderful way for us, and many other companies, to showcase our capabilities whilst sharing information, offer online training and release new technology information, in a format that is suited to the current climate.”

She continues, “This is one of three virtual events we’re taking part in, including our very own virtual expo launching on 8 June 2020. It’s wonderful to see businesses adapt and we’re excited to be part of that. Our specialty is in designing automation solutions that uniquely cater for both small and large businesses. Bürkert’s experience in the food and beverage industry means we can combine our knowledge and capabilities to create solutions that fit exactly with a client’s requirements. It’s something we’re very proud of and we’re looking forward to exhibiting our capabilities at the show.

“Thought leadership and innovative technology development is one of the core values at Bürkert and we certainly see this event as another opportunity to share our experience and product range with a new audience,” said Boyd.

Bürkert’s smart solutions assist these industry groups to improve the control over their processes, even when they’re not onsite. It is important to remember that process control alone is not the magic recipe that makes automation possible.

Smarter automation for on/off and control valves, flowmeters, as well as electric and pneumatic actuators are a small piece of the equipment that will be on display at this virtual event. Bürkert will also exhibit some of their experiences and capabilities for plant utilities, clean in place, process automation, dosing and gas applications as well as network technology.
