WHS guidance for food manufacturers during COVID-19
Safe Work Australia (SWA) has published new information via a ‘COVID-19 Information for workplaces’ online resource. “Under the model work health and safety laws, employers have a duty of care for the health and safety of their workers and others at the workplace,” Michelle Baxter, SWA Chief Executive Officer, said.
The online resource specifically designed for food manufacturers is called Food processing and manufacturing: Minimising the risk from COVID-19 and this document can be downloaded from the SWA website.
The resource is designed to provide information for food processing and manufacturing employers, workers and small business about work health and safety and COVID-19.
It provides guidance on how to:
- manage the risk of exposure to COVID-19 at your workplace
- meet your legal obligations
- keep people safe at your workplace.
It provides information about:
- work health and safety duties
- what to do when there’s a case of COVID-19 in the workplace
- physical distancing
- cleaning.
