Barry Callebaut appoints new Chief Operating Officer
Barry Callebaut has appointed Thomas Gaengler as its new Chief Operating Officer, succeeding Clemens Woehrle on 1 September 2026.
Gaengler joins Barry Callebaut from Mondelez International, bringing more than 30 years of international leadership experience across supply chain, procurement and operations. More recently, he served as SVP, End-to-End Supply Chain, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa (AMEA) where he worked closely with regional business units to drive alignment, strengthen collaboration and deliver impact. For the last four years, he led Mondelez’s Procurement as Global Chief Procurement Officer. He holds a master’s degree in chemical and food engineering from the Technical University Brno, Czech Republic.
Barry Callebaut CEO Hein Schumacher said he was delighted to welcome Gaengler, who will help lead the company’s next phase of growth.
“His global leadership experience in the sector and ability to build strong partnerships across the organisation will be invaluable as we continue to execute our Focus for Growth priorities,” Schumacher said.
