Andrews Meat Industries expands its export capabilities
Meat provider Andrews Meat Industries (AMI) has expanded its distribution capabilities into new and existing export markets by acquiring a majority shareholding in premium meat supplier White Stripe Foods.
White Stripe Foods — which supplies meat products to the international hospitality market including hotels, restaurants, foodservice providers, retailers and caterers — will continue to manage operations and trade under its own name.
AMI CEO Peter Andrews said: “White Stripe Foods has significant market strengths with longstanding clients in over 30 countries, predominantly in Asia and the Middle East, and in some cases, providing local representation which has scope for growth.
“The company has a very successful business model, which we can tap into as we build distribution into the export markets.
“With AMI’s capabilities increasing rapidly, and increased revenue in our core business sectors, this was the perfect opportunity to expand our scope and offering.”
White Stripe Foods Managing Director Matt Lyne similarly said the company “has a strong history of managing supply relationships in our core markets, so combined with AMI’s experience in production, foodservice and value-add cooked product, this transaction ensures we can offer to the market enhanced quality product and our leading service”.
The acquisition comes after a significant period of growth for AMI since JBS Australia became the majority shareholder of the company in 2014. JBS Australia’s CEO Brent Eastwood said the company’s growth has been helped by the state-of-the-art facility in Sydney for portioning, cooking and sous vide meal solutions.
“AMI’s significant foodservice and value-add production capabilities, integrated with White Stripe Foods’ extensive customer base and global network, is a recipe for success and we look forward to seeing the partnership grow.”
