AIP webinar: the role of packaging in reducing food waste
The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will discuss the role of packaging in minimising food waste at the upcoming Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) webinar on Wednesday, 26 August.
In Australia, food waste is estimated to cost the economy $20 billion each year. As businesses look to redesign their packaging for recoverability, improving packaging to avoid food waste is a critical issue for packaging designers to consider.
The webinar will look at the journey of food from farm to fork and the important role packaging plays in food waste prevention. Speakers include: Nerida Kelton MAIP, Executive Director AIP; Karli Verghese FAIP, Program Leader, Fight Food Waste CRC; Mark Barthel, Special Advisor Food Waste Fight Food Waste CRC.
Topics to be discussed include: an update on the research and projects being delivered within the Fight Food Waste CRC — an organisation that brings together industry, research and the community to capitalise on Australia’s food waste opportunities; training, tools and resources for businesses working to reduce food waste through packaging; Save Food Packaging Design Guidelines; and best practice examples of packaging design guidelines.
