Metal detector for wet, harsh conditions

JL Lennard has introduced a metal detector designed to eliminate water ingress.

The latest generation Thermo Goring Kerr DSP IP metal detector exceeds the IP69K washdown standard and is claimed to be the only metal detector in the world to meet and exceed this level of protection.

The rugged technology offers high sensitivity and reliability on production and conveyor lines for high-moisture food products such as smallgoods, meat, fish, cheese, sauces and preserves, withstanding 100 bar and 80°C washdowns.

The system's internal power supply saves space on production lines, simplifying installation and giving more production flexibility. It means less hardware and external wiring to install and maintain.

The machine's digital signal processing delivers more accurate detection. At maximum line speeds, the unit can detect metal that other systems might miss - without rejecting product unnecessarily.

The optional AuditCheck automatic performance verification system gives control by continuously monitoring the performance of the metal detector, quickly spotting and reporting even small changes in sensitivity.

Features of the detector include: standard aperture widths from 100-2000 mm, heights from 50-600 mm, with head widths from 75-320 mm; universal power supply for worldwide use; fault condition selection from front panel to an alarm; five output signals, including two solid-state (typically used for AuditCheck and reject control) and three for individually selected applications including faults and alarms; printer and communications connections including RS232 or 4 wire multidrop RS485 interface; DSPNet communications and software control package that allows up to 32 (optionally 64) DSP2, DSP3 and DSP IP metal detectors to be connected to a central PC; manufactured to ISO 9001.
