Safety In Action turns 10

Wednesday, 29 November, 2006

Safety In Action will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2007, with organisers of the workplace safety exhibition planning two new feature areas to keep visitors up to date.

The event already includes feature areas on height safety, building safety and electrical engineering and will add corporate health and training, and technology in 2007.

The tenth show will see an expanded materials handling contingent, which will also have a new name "“ Melbourne Materials Handling.

It is expected to be 25% bigger than Materials & Manual Handling 2006 and will be rolled out in Brisbane and Sydney for the first time in June and October respectively.

The growth of the materials handling reflects the scale of problems experienced by industry, according to Marie Kinsella at Australian Exhibitions and Conferences.

"The sprains and strains associated with manual handling take an enormous toll on Australia's workforce," she said.

"Our visitors are keen to explore how they can reduce the impact of those injuries and that's why a show dedicated to the field is warranted."

Safety In Action and Melbourne Materials Handling will run from 20-22 March at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. For more information on the event, visit www.safetyinaction.net.au.
