Winners of Food Victoria awards announced

The Premier of Victoria, the Hon Steve Bracks has announced the winners of the 2006 Premier's Food Victoria Awards.

The awards recognise companies that are significant participants and leaders within the Victorian food industry. In addition to receiving exhibition space at Australia's largest food trade fair, Fine Foods Melbourne, winners obtain a competitive advantage to their business, provide an example of business excellence to the industry and develop an increased understanding of their organisation through addressing the entry criteria.

The awards are funded by Regional Development Victoria and recognise excellence in Victoria's food processing industry across three categories of best practice " export, marketing and innovation.

Entrants are not only assessed by an independent judging panel, but they also must clear background checks for workplace health and safety, financial stability, environmental responsibility and food safety.

  • Innovation Winner " Simply Tomatoes
