The 39th annual AIFST convention
The 39th Annual Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) Convention will be held from 9"12 July 2006 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
The Convention program is organised around the objective "to celebrate the Australian food industry " its achievements, its strengths and its diversity"¦" It will also showcase aspects of the South Australian food industry.
Sessions on Monday 10 July will focus on the wine industry " Grapes, the sky is the limit! and Flavour fortitude and fizz. There will be six speakers, all of which come from South Australia including three from the Australian Wine Research Institute.
Tuesday 11 July will see a full day nutrition stream organised by CSIRO Human Nutrition. There will be session on: The role of food in disease prevention, the case for carbs " plants, processing and functional foods, and Challenges in obesity research and the delivery of health benefits.
Wednesday 12 July will be the food allergen stream organised by the AFGC Food Allergen Bureau. Issues will be explored from both the consumer and industry perspectives.
There will also be a half day pre-convention workshop on: New physical measurements in food science.
