SSI Schaefer expands in Melbourne

Materials handling system supplier, SSI Schaefer, has expanded its Melbourne operation.

According to Alan Clark, Managing Director, SSI Schaefer Australasia, the announcement to open a second office in the Altona area in Victoria is a key component of  the company's Australasian growth.

“With the increasing number of large installations and the growth of our clientele in the western suburbs of Melbourne, we needed to open a second office to manage the clients efficiently,” Clark said.

“Our new office will ultimately increase customer-service response times, give greater coverage in an expanding market and provide an office for overseas-visiting SSI Schaefer personnel closer to the airport,” he said.

SSI Schaefer will be using the premises of IFC Global Logistics, where the company will have both office space and warehouse facilities. The second SSI Schaefer office will be in addition to the Dandenong facility of distributor, Absolute Storage Systems, which remains an integral part of the state’s growth and now can offer greater client service in conjunction with the SSI Schaefer team.

SSI Schaefer has released three new products in the last twelve months which were the ipick system, the WIMAS warehouse management system and the Orbiter satellite system enabling new product offerings to the market.
