NSW Food Regulation Partnership Forum meets in Newcastle
Newcastle recently hosted the annual regional meeting of the NSW Food Regulation Partnership Forum, giving food businesses in the Hunter region the opportunity to stay up to date with food safety standards and regulations.
“This meeting is one way in which the NSW Food Authority offers businesses the opportunity to ask questions about the food laws,” said Polly Bennett, CEO of the NSW Food Authority.
“For example, one attendee at the Newcastle forum asked what they need to do to ensure that the ingredients list on a food product is correct and how to validate this information.”
NSW Food Authority representatives also provided information on other programs such as Scores on Doors and Food Safety Supervisors.
“Attendees also had the opportunity to raise any concerns prior to the forum at a meeting between retail food businesses and local council environmental health officers,” Bennett said.
Made up of representatives from key local government stakeholders, the forum meets three times a year, with one meeting held in a regional location.
