National logistics award launched

Monday, 05 March, 2007

The 2007 Logistics Development Award has been launched by the Logistics Association of Australia (LAA), in conjunction with Chep Asia Pacific.

The winner will have the opportunity to hear and meet some of the world's foremost logisticians at a global logistics event.

The major prize includes complimentary registration, travel and accommodation at the Annual Conference of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, to be held in Philadelphia from 21-24 October.

Applicants for the award are required to submit a 1500-word paper on either:

  • The most significant supply-chain trend they see affecting business in Australia; or
  • The most successful innovation in logistics or supply chain in which they have been involved.

"Through Chep's generous sponsorship of the LDA over the past 15 years, many young professionals in the logistics and supply chain industry have benefited from winning this award and it is exciting to be able to offer the same opportunity again," LAA vice-president education and training, Joe Famularo said.

Last year's winner, George Hodgson is currently travelling around Australia presenting the knowledge he gained on his 2006 United States trip. He is encouraging other professional logisticians to seriously consider applying for this year's award.

Entries close on 30 June, and applicants do not have to be members of the LAA to apply. More information on applying for the award is available at the LAA website.
