Marel appoints new managing director of Fish Industry Center

Marel has a new managing director of its Fish Industry Center. Sigurdur Olason will succeed Jon Birgir Gunnarsson, who is leaving the company, on 1 May 2014.

Olason will become a member of Marel’s executive team and will report directly to Marel CEO Arni Oddur Thordarson.

This will be Olason’s second time working for Marel; from 2001 to 2006, he worked in product development for the company. He comes to the position after six years as manager of business development at Samherji, one of Iceland’s leading seafood companies.

Olason has an MBA from the QUT Graduate School of Business, a degree in computer science and a degree in engineering from the University of Iceland.
