IMCD Group acquires leading Indonesian food ingredients distributor

IMCD Group has signed an agreement to acquire PT Alam Subur Tirta Kencana, a Jakarta-based food ingredients distributor. The acquisition is IMCD’s first entry into South-East Asia.

The agreement also involves IMCD acquiring Alam Subur’s affiliated company, PT Sapta Permata, in Surabaya, Indonesia. Once all necessary approvals have been obtained, all businesses of Alam Subur and Sapta Permata will become PT IMCD Indonesia.

Founded in 1999, Alam Subur is a distributor and supplier of food and beverage, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical ingredients. The company has about 100 employees. Sapta Permata was founded in 2002 and has 20 employees.

“This is an important step in realisation of our strategy in the largest and fastest growing country of South-East Asia, where we foresee tremendous growth prospects,” said Albert Stevens, Vice-President Asia for IMCD Group. “Alam Subur’s expertise and knowledge of a diverse and huge market like Indonesia will be an asset for our expansion strategy.”

All employees of Alam Subur will transfer to IMCD, with no disturbance to Alam Subur’s current activities expected.
