HACCP conference

Wednesday, 22 June, 2005

Advancing Food Safety Pty Ltd will convene the 12th Australian HACCP Conference from September 5 to 9 in Sydney. The conference will again drive forward the food safety issues that face the Australasian food industry every day.

Each year the overall focus of the Conference Program addresses issues that have affected the industry resulting from a wide range of events including regulatory change, international policy implementation, foodborne illness outbreaks and recalls.

The program also looks at a specific sector in an annually rotating fashion such that all delegates can participate in the knowledge exchange and apply the principles discussed in their own business environment. This year it focuses on the primary production sector.

Topics will be: new technology, allergens, organics, produce, seafood, obesity, comparison of standards.

The conference week includes the dinner awards, trade exhibits, training, workshops, technical tours and social events. Professional development in food safety is one of the key criteria facing all agri-food chain organisations. It is important that individuals are updated with current information to determine what impact food safety issues will have on their business.

The Annual HACCP Conference Awards in four categories are designed to recognise both individuals and food businesses for their contribution to food safety initiatives in the Australian food industry. Each category provides an opportunity for organisations and individuals to nominate candidates deserving of this prestigious award.

The nominated award categories are:

  • Category One - outstanding individual nominated by an Australian commercially owned agri-food business (sponsored by Metcash Ltd).
  • Category Two - outstanding individual working for a non-industry institution (sponsored by Advance Career Development Pty Ltd).
  • Category Three - outstanding individual working as a registered food safety auditor (sponsored by Ecolab).
  • Category Four (six sub-categories) - outstanding company nominated by an audit agency (sponsored by Woolworths).

The 2005 Annual Conference Awards are endorsed by: Australian Soft Drink Association, Confectionery Association of Australia, JAS-ANZ, Horticulture Australia, RABQSA, National Food Industry Strategy Ltd.
