AIP Victoria technical dinner

The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) Victoria Branch, in conjunction with the Label &Tag Manufacturers Association (LATMA), will be holding a technical dinner on 2 May with keynote speakers from GS1 Australia and David Simpson Graphics.

John Lane, Manager of Testing Services at GS1 Australia, will discuss understanding the business requirements relating to the design, production and printing of barcodes. John’s presentation will include new symbologies including 2D and GS1 DataBar (overview and impact), common problems in 1D barcodes, considerations of digital files and compensating for gain and print direction.

David Gerring, National Sales Manager at David Simpson Graphics, will talk about how barcodes are created by prepress houses. He will also talk about printability requirements for label printers and what label printers should know about BWR.
