Survey reveals future needs, trends of cold chain industry

Thursday, 23 October, 2014

The results of a survey on the cold chain industry have been released at an industry forum.

The survey, entitled ‘Assessing the Future of the Cold Chain Industry’, was conducted in early 2014 and highlights future trends in areas that significantly impact the cold chain industry - including environmental, trends, logistics and products and services. The survey’s 165 respondents spanned more than 20 countries and five continents.

Two key trends were identified by the survey results:

  • Due to environmental concerns and the need to improve supply chain efficiencies, customers are increasingly re-using passive packaging systems.
  • The industry is anticipating a stronger global regulation environment, while at the same time many companies are looking to outsource non-core activities.

The survey was co-developed by an advisory panel of industry experts. The full report is available at www.thermosafe.com/survey.
