Real-time VOC analysis

High sensitivity and specificity coupled with real-time results means the Voice200 instrument from Syft Technologies is suitable to flavour and aroma perception, flavour release analysis, off-odour and taint detection, and food safety monitoring.

The instrument is a self-contained system that requires no calibration, no sample preparation, is flexible and is easy to operate. Samples can be can be collected and analysed by direct-headspace, in-mouth, and retro-nasal techniques.

The instrument instantaneously identifies and quantifies VOCs in complex gas mixtures in real time via selective ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS). SIFT-MS uses super-soft chemical ionisation for the identification and quantitation of VOCs down to parts per trillion (pptv) levels, all in real time.

The SIFT-MS uses multiple reagent ions, both positive and negative. This means that users are able to distinguish between analytes or compounds that share the same mass or chemical formula, providing high levels of specificity that have not been available before.
