X-ray Food Inspection on the Road: Safety on Wheels!

Australian food manufacturers are being offered a rare, hands-on opportunity to evaluate X-ray inspection performance using their own products and within their own operational environment: the German inspection technology specialist Wipotec, is launching its dedicated Show Truck initiative for the first time in Australia.

This coming April, technology is not confined to a trade show booth. For the first time, a dedicated demonstration vehicle equipped with the latest X-ray inspection technology will travel through Sydney and surrounding areas from 20 to 24 April, offering on-site demonstrations directly at food production facilities. It is a practical, hands-on way to evaluate contamination detection and product integrity using real production samples. For production managers and quality assurance teams, this format removes the abstraction of trade fair demonstrations. Instead of theoretical discussions, teams can assess detection sensitivity, line integration feasibility, and data handling capabilities onsite and with their own products.

Manufacturers can reserve a complimentary session, subject to availability. As appointment slots are limited, early booking is strongly recommended. Each onsite session includes:

  • Live X-ray inspection demonstrations at production plants
  • Testing of real products for foreign body detection and completeness
  • Evaluation of fill level verification, mass measurement, missing components, damaged products or product giveaway prevention, among others
  • Complimentary onsite consultation with inspection specialists

And participants will have the opportunity to explore and learn about:

  • High-resolution detectors for improved sensitivity
  • Multi-lane inspection capabilities
  • Robust IP-rated designs suitable for washdown environments
  • Intuitive HMI interfaces for audit-ready documentation

With local operations based in Altona, Victoria, Wipotec Australia is using this inaugural tour to connect more closely with the market. By taking inspection technology on the road, the initiative reflects a broader industry shift: food safety verification is no longer theoretical. It must be validated against actual products and real packaging formats.

Food safety is not static. Standards evolve, supply chains globalize, and risk exposure increases. Investing in advanced inspection technology is not solely about meeting today’s requirements but preparing for tomorrow’s regulatory and commercial landscape. The Wipotec Show Truck initiative marks a practical entry point for Australian food manufacturers to explore next-generation of X-ray inspection systems without operational disruption, and it is an opportunity to benchmark their current contamination control strategy against modern capabilities.

In a market where trust is currency, robust detection and removal of contaminants are foundational. Seeing the technology in operation may be the most effective way to determine the next move.
