Stainless steel planetary gearboxes

The MSS range of planetary gearboxes is a wash-down gearbox manufactured from stainless steel and includes lubricating grease suitable for the food processing or pharmaceutical industries.

The planetary gearbox is an in-line gear reducer designed for direct mounting to a servomotor. The motor power is transmitted to the sun gear which in turn drives the planet gears contained within an internal tooth ring gear. The planet carrier supports the planet gear and delivers output rotation.

The MSS range of planetary gearboxes is supplied with a two-screw clamping coupling to secure the input shaft to the motor shaft and can be mounted to any motor appropriate for the gearboxes torque ratings. There is an extensive range of standard motor flange adaptor plates available for each size gearbox for all popular servomotors and unique flanges can be manufactured if required.

All of the gears encased in the planetary gearboxes have been case hardened to 58-62 HRC and ground to DIN 6 to 5 standards. The teeth on the gears have been modified to reduce friction, increase lifetime and offers quiet operation. Standard gearboxes are available with an output torque rating up to 12,100 Nm.

The gearboxes can be supplied with as little as 1 arcmin backlash, enabling a machine to carry out very precise applications.

The range of gearboxes can also be combined with a low backlash, right-angled box to enable transmission of rotary motion and power between 90° angle shafts with ratios up to 100:1.
