Citrox is a natural safe and effective replacement for toxic sanitisers. It is a wholly natural biocide intermediate, which has been developed from soluble bioflavonoids taken from immature oranges.
Citrox can be used as a replacement for chlorine as a means to naturally decontaminate and extend shelf life of fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables, and meat products such as poultry. It can be included in products such as mouthwash and toothpaste, added to beverages to extend the shelf life and used for the sanitation of processing equipment and to reduce biofilm development on processing plant surfaces.
Citrox has been classified by NZFSA as a food ingredient and can be used as a ‘processing aid’ in most applications.
Citrox core active ingredients are entirely free of genetic modifications, are non-toxic, non-mutagenic, non-carcinogenic, hypoallergenic and non-corrosive. Their anti-pathogenic powers are due to the synergetic effect created between certain fruit acids and the extracts taken from the bitter oranges.
