Manual handling kits

SI Instruments has developed a manual handling kit, suitable for testing a variety of job tasks in the workplace to maintain a safe environment for employees.

The kit incorporates either a digital force gauge or the lower-cost analogue force gauge, capable of measuring small and extensive forces, plus appropriate accessories to accurately assess each task application by mimicking the user’s actions. The kit is designed to not only measure the force used in physically demanding tasks, but also the capacity of personnel to perform the task in question. This benefits employers by providing them with better knowledge of the requirements of the application, the ability to effectively match the task to an individual’s capabilities and include new processes to enable existing personnel to work unhindered by previous safety risks.

For example, personnel within the transport industry are often called upon to move heavy objects, such as cargo dollies or luggage, or perform repetitive tasks, such as handling controls for routine operations. Using the manual handling kit will ensure these tasks remain within the designated guidelines and regulations set by governing bodies and help evaluate where the main risk of injuries to personnel reside.
