Food plants that foam clean usually need a compressed air line at every washdown point. The Lafferty A-50 airless foamer, available in Australia from Brisbane supplier NORA PRO, does not. It runs on standard mains water pressure alone.
The A-50 mounts on the wall at the washdown point. Water flowing through its Venturi injector draws the cleaning or sanitising chemical from its container and dilutes it at a set ratio. The solution then runs through the hose to an airless foam wand, which draws in air and projects a wet, clinging foam up to about 2.4 m. The foam holds on walls, equipment and other vertical surfaces, and is designed to stay in contact for longer so operators can see where it has been applied.
The unit works with water pressure of about 2.4 to 8.6 bar. It comes with a stainless steel mounting bracket, stainless steel inlet and discharge ball valves, a polypropylene injector body, 20 colour-coded metering tips for setting the dilution, and a 15 m foam hose with a polypropylene foam wand.
Because it needs no air supply, the A-50 suits sites where running compressed air to each wash area is costly or impractical, such as smaller food processors, commercial kitchens and wash bay.
Each unit can be matched to suit the chemical it will apply.
