Corona Giken STtuve III bacterial contamination test

Tuesday, 06 July, 2010 | Supplied by: BioNovus Life Sciences

Corona Giken has released the STtuve III, a simple and reliable method for the in-house testing of surfaces for the presence of bacterial contamination. Designed as a fully self-contained system, each test contains a sterile sampling swab, selective bacterial culture media and a sanitising solution.

The entire procedure from sampling, to incubation, to the interpretation of results does not require skilled laboratory staff or a microbiology laboratory. After use, by releasing the sanitising solution into the culture medium, it eliminates the need to autoclave the product prior to disposal. Test by swabbing the surface, then release the selective culture media, incubate for 12 to 24 hours, and if a colour change is observed, the presence of the specific bacterial contaminant is confirmed.

The test is available in four versions for the detection of: Salmonella, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Staphylococcus aureus, coliforms/Escherichia coli.

The test can reduce the time taken to respond to bacterial contamination compared to sending samples to an outside laboratory for testing. It is suitable for the implementation and maintenance of HCAPP and can assist in the elimination of bacterial contamination of products or in maintaining high levels of hygiene in food preparation and production areas.

Each version of the STtuve III is available in a pack of 100 units and all have an 18-month shelf life from the date of manufacture.
