Chemical residue and microbiological testing
Symbio Alliance is a ‘one-stop shop’ specialising in the provision of chemical, residue and microbiological testing services to the food, agricultural and environmental industries.
The laboratory operates according to the guidelines set out in ISO/IEC/17025 and is NATA accredited for a wide range of tests. Symbio Alliance is an AQIS appointed analyst for imported food testing and is listed by the National Residue Survey for testing meat, grains, fruit and vegetables.
Equipment has been installed within the chemistry laboratory to cater for the ever-increasing demand for wider screens for residue compounds, improved food chemistry analysis, reduced turnaround times, lower levels of detection and competitive pricing. The company has qualified staff on hand to assist with technical queries and to provide guidance with the interpretation of results.
Mass spectrometry has emerged as a critical technology in residue analysis for agricultural, food and environmental industries. Accordingly, the company has committed a million dollars in capital expenditure to improve its capability in this higher technology.
The highlights of the company's instruments include:
- API 5000 Triple Quad LC/MS/MS — one of the world’s most sensitive LC/MS/MS systems providing extraordinary sensitivity for trace analysis of pesticide residues, antibiotics, nitrofurans, ionophores and food vitamins.
- Varian 300 Triple Quadruple GC/MS/MS system — for trace analysis of pesticides and other GC compounds.
- Thermo TSQ Quantum Triple Quad GC/MS/MS — for trace analysis of pesticides and other GC compounds.
- Shimadzu Prominence HPLC-ELSD-II — provides good sensitivity for sugar profiles, sugar alcohol and organic acid analysis.
