Champion Compressors has launched its range of EcoPak compressors. Combining the proven technologies of variable speed drive (VSD) with variable output control (VOC), Champion has developed a compressor family that delivers energy-efficient compressed air at the top end of its capacity.

The EcoPak enables the efficient production of compressed air for applications where there are widely varying compressed air demands, making it suitable for the food and packaging industry.

By automatically varying both the motor speed and the air end length, the EcoPak ensures that the compressor’s efficient operating range - often referred to as the ‘sweet-spot’ - covers a broader operating load range than for any comparable compressor on the market.

The EcoPak family of compressors is available in nine models, ranging from 50 to 250 kW. The line-up capitalises on the V-drive design, which utilises ‘Optimal Flux’ technology from motor manufacturer WEG. This allows the drive to adjust its calibration to precisely suit the compressor motor and enables the compressor to run continuously in 50°C conditions at 100% speed, or at minimum speed with no loss of torque. Optimal Flux reduces motor temperatures by as much as 11%, which eliminates the need for forced ventilation, minimises motor losses and improves both the efficiency and longevity of the motor.

The EcoPak range has a wider turndown compared with industry-standard VSD compressors.
