Bosch Packaging Technology has added to its services portfolio a Mobile Measuring System - a method of capturing OEE-relevant data for the analysis of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

It enables manufacturers to gain a rapid overview of the OEE of their production lines and serves as a basis for equipment optimisation. The Mobile Measuring System, in the form of a portable box, can be used both on its own and together with Bosch OEE consulting service, and serves as a basis to decide if a permanent measuring system should be implemented.

The system provides the required data on output, speed, downtimes and waste across an entire line and identifies potential for improvement to increase equipment effectiveness and productivity. If potentials are identified, Bosch determines, through OEE consulting with the manufacturer, the main causes of the deficits and defines next steps to address them.

The OEE measuring system can be applied for a predetermined period of time and shows potentials for improvement quickly.

The data collection requires no operator input. In order for the system to capture OEE-relevant data, the shift model is loaded into the system control unit. Up to eight machine components (from Bosch and third parties) can be independently connected using one interface. The system can collect data directly from the equipment control system. Using the acquired data, the potential for improvement of each machine can be clearly defined.

A touch panel can be connected to the system to display the production data, enabling machine operators to manually allocate a cause of disruption to the reports on planned machine downtime. The customised software allows the acquired production data to be displayed graphically for a detailed analysis.
