Wednesday, 16 March, 2016

Australian online marketplace Butcherman has released its Red Meat Index, an analysis of more than 30,000 customer orders placed on its website by over 10,000 customers, between 1 October and 31 December 2015.

The data shows that customers using the website — an online marketplace of farmers, butcher shops and meat wholesalers — preferred red meat to chicken, with the top five most popular cuts of meat being red meat.

Top 10 cuts of meat by order quantities:

  1. Lamb mince
  2. Lean beef mince
  3. Lamb cutlets
  4. Eye fillet
  5. Lamb backstrap
  6. Chicken thigh
  7. Lamb rack
  8. Eye fillet
  9. Chicken schnitzel
  10. Beef sausages
