Homebrew hobby to commercial success in 20 years
Wednesday, 08 May, 2013
Italian kegging, bottling and canning equipment supplier CoMac recently installed a new kegging line for Colorado craft brewing company Avery Brewing Co of Boulder, Colorado.
Established in 1993, the Avery Brewing Co bottles more than 20 different beers each year, from a citrusy IPA through to the rich Out of Bounds Stout. The company has quickly grown from brewmaster Adam Avery’s homebrew hobby to a successful medium-sized brewery, which required a significant change in production and bottling techniques.
An expansion project, due to be completed in 2014, will enable the company to produce up to 350,000 barrels of beer each year.
The company had an existing Comac 2T model keg washer/filler but recently added an additional 3+1T model keg washer/filler. The CoMac 3+1T keg line has a speed of 50 km/h and consists of: a three-head keg washer/filler; cleaning solution tanks for caustic/acid, hot water and mixed water; filters and reducers; and inlet and outlet conveyors.
