Mcllhenny Company TABASCO Chipotle Sauce

The Mcllhenny Company’s TABASCO Chipotle Sauce is made with vine-ripened, red jalapeño peppers smoked over an open pecan wood fire.

After smoking, the peppers are combined with the company’s Pepper Pulp, a blend of natural spices, vinegar, salt and water.

The result is a rich, smoky sauce with a full-bodied flavour and moderate heat. It is a natural fit for BBQ sauces and marinades, and it’s suitable for chillis and soups. It complements meat dishes.

Over the last 150 years, the company has claimed that the secret to the pepper sauce is craftsmanship.

All of the peppers are picked by hand to ensure the perfect ripeness by comparing the colour of the peppers to a small wooden dowel, ‘le petite bâton rouge’, painted the preferred hue of Tabasco red.

The pepper mash is then aged in white oak barrels for three years and blended with distilled vinegar, resulting in a pepper sauce.
