Metal detector with cutting-edge multi-spectrum technology — CEIA

Leading food processing and packaging manufacturer Heat and Control, understands the importance of choosing the right inspection systems.

One safety recall event is enough to ruin years spent establishing a good reputation. The costs associated with a product recall are much more than just loss, return or exchange of defective products — it can mean loss of brand rapport and customer loyalty too.

From raw product input to protect machinery, to higher sensitivity metal detection at the end of the line, Heat and Control can help you protect your consumer and your brand.

Detect

Metal detection is an inspection process that can occur at several points throughout your production line. The primary purpose of installing metal detection is to identify ferrous (magnetic), non-ferrous metal contaminants in your product, for example aluminium and stainless steel.

Reject

This is primarily for the quality control of your product, consumer protection and to protect the machinery in your production line. The smallest metal fragments can cause machinery to malfunction and subsequent production downtime while repairs are performed.

Heat and Control and CEIA can help food manufacturers comply with global safety standards and meet the demands of quality and safety conscious retailers. You can protect your consumer, your brand, and your production line by using the most sophisticated metal detector in the market.

Protect

CEIA metal detectors are the world’s only metal detectors using cutting edge multi-spectrum technology. CEIA’s innovative technology uses multiple frequencies simultaneously, meaning that they can increase sensitivity, reduce false rejects and detect thin metal fragments no matter what orientation or direction the contaminant enters the metal detector.

A metal detector that uses only one frequency struggles to accommodate signal variation, making it unsuitable for inspecting mixed composition product types and products that may vary in temperature. This is why CEIA developed the cutting edge multi-spectrum technology.

This technology optimises the sensitivity to metal contaminants, irrespective to the contaminant’s orientation in the product, the temperature or food composition, ensuring maximum elimination of the product effect. The CEIA multi-spectrum is the only metal detector in the market that can detect a needle in any orientation in a tray of strawberries and other food.

Integrated Auto-Learn functionality allows CEIA metal detectors to be easily set up for new products while still ensuring high levels of sensitivity. With minimal manual adjustment, the metal detector can quickly learn the properties of any new product and informs the user how many passes it needs in order to understand and map the new product.

This feature outperforms other metal detectors which experience difficulty inspecting non-homogenous products. Inferior, non multi-spectrum detectors commonly trigger ‘false positives’ during metal detection, usually when food composition and mineral levels incorrectly indicate the presence of metal. This leads to a perfectly good product being rejected and the loss of a profitable, saleable product.

Heat and Control understand that metal detection specifications need to vary according to the product, manufacturing process and the placement in the production line and we have a number of solutions to meet your individual needs. Food manufacturers can customise detection to their specific application — from raw product input to protect machinery, to higher sensitivity metal detection at the end of the line, to protect the consumer and the brand.

Multi-Spectrum, model THS/MS21

Using CEIA’s proprietary multi-spectrum technology, the MS21 detectors accurately differentiate between product effect and metal contaminants with no need to reduce sensitivity. The simultaneous use of multiple detection frequencies delivers the greatest sensitivity to all magnetic and non-magnetic metals — plus accurate compensation for product effect to reduce waste and false reject signals. They are extremely versatile and suitable for all product types for horizontally conveyed foods, free-falling products, and pipeline applications with or without automatic rejection.

Single high-power frequency, model THS/21

The THS/21 series of metal detectors detects metal contaminants accidentally present in food products, with excellent levels of sensitivity, high immunity to interference, and fast response speeds designed to satisfy the strictest quality control requirements. The series is suitable for very-high sensitivity inspection of dry, non-conductive products in horizontally conveyed and free-falling configurations with or without a reject valve.

Three frequency Economical, model THS/21E-3F

The THS/21E-3F series of metal detectors provides excellent results on multi-product lines, where flexibility is required. Utilising one of its three inbuilt frequencies it allows for very-high sensitivity for detection of contaminating metals, including ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel. The series is suitable for horizontally conveyed, free-falling, and pipeline applications of dry/neutral products.

Single frequency Economical, model THS/21E

The THS/21E series of metal detectors provides excellent results on similar product lines and is suitable for those with a more conservative budget in mind. Under these circumstances the THS/21E allows for very good sensitivity for detection of contaminating metals, including ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel. The series is suitable for horizontally conveyed, free-falling, and pipeline applications of dry/neutral products.
