Wraparound case packer

To complement their renowned ALTAIR N Series medium to high speed continuous motion wraparound case packers for outputs up to 80 cases per minute, OCME of Parma Italy have released their new "baby", the ALTAIR X Series, for outputs up to 30 cases per minute.

Products can be PET, plastic or glass bottles and cans, loose or in cardboard or shrink wrap multipacks or cluster packs.

The X series is a truly modular design, compact, simple in operation, extremely flexible, with encoder controlled movements and in-phase stopping, controlled by Siemens or an Allen-Bradley PLC. All proprietary components are from major international suppliers and are readily available in the local market.

Size changes are carried out by an operator, are quick, with few parts required and have a product format selection system comprising double pneumatically operated gates, which are self adjusting when product infeed guides are adjusted. All change parts are colour and numerically coded to prevent error and require no tools. Product changepart charts are mounted at critical points on the machine.

The case blanks feeding system is as used on the high speed machines, using rubber belts to positively feed blanks from a special holding magazine to the packer. No vacuum system is used. An ergonomically designed external bulk magazine allows operators to load blanks at a comfortable working level outside of the machine's main frame. Optional sizes allow up to 1,000 blanks to be stored and sliding doors give access to the total workings of the machine.
