Thursday, 04 November, 2010 | Supplied by: Inspection Systems Pty Ltd

The Loma X4 800XL X-ray inspection system incorporates a large aperture feed system that can handle large products, such as bulk meat, large stacks of food ingredients or large blocks of unprocessed cheese.

The technology will help producers adjust to food industry moves to reduce to interim primary packaging by increasing the size of raw materials. The technology will enable food processors who handle any solid or semi-solid foodstuff to detect contaminants.

In traditional food inspection to date, producers have had difficulty maintaining quality and accuracy in inspecting food items of larger sizes.

The design of the Loma X4 800XL solves this problem as it has been specifically designed with all of the technological advantages of the X-ray equipment used to inspect smaller items, but with the ability and technology to process larger items.

The system has been designed to operate for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, meeting IP66 environment specifications and enabling it to withstand tough industrial environments.

The system also features the most up-to-date sanitising system, incorporating an easy-wash conveyor with a full draining capability and intuitive colour touch interface.

The X4 800XL has a normal belt speed of up to 50 m/min, ensuring the line speed is consistent with the performance of the rest of the process line, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

In order to enable manufacturers to access information on compliance simply and quickly, the technically advanced system incorporates an industrial-grade PC and front access USB port. The computer vision system uses an advanced image processing and 3D modelling system, together with full diagnostic and system health monitoring, with date and time, image and event stamp archiving, together with remote support tools.

Special features from the manufacturer, Loma, the OPC data capture system and eNet, are designed to help quality managers use their inspection equipment as a management tool, as well as a process control by compiling fully featured production reports.

Built with heavy-duty conveyor components and high-quality electronics, it offers the utmost level of reliability and performance.
