IntraVis Vision Systems CapWatcher III closure inspection system

The CapWatcher III from IntraVis Vision Systems is the third-generation model of the machine, which has been designed to inspect closures that are becoming more lightweight and translucent and have thin walls and smaller tamper-evident bands. It has been redesigned to handle ultra lightweight closures.

The machine has six cameras that capture high-resolution images of each individual closure to identify defects such as short shots, colour deviations and micro-holes. It can check closures at speeds of up to 210,000 closures/h.

Four cameras are positioned to inspect the external elements of the closures such as short or long shots, spots on the wall, missing tamper-evident bands, turned up flaps and closure height.

An internal colour camera inspects the diameter and ovality of the closures, including colour deviations and linear inconsistencies, and the final camera reads the cavity number. An optional camera is available for print registration inspection.

The system is controlled via a single IntraVis HMI and can also be used for offline quality control of closure batches in combination with bunker, sorter and octabin filler.
