Hitachi RXHD low-solvent printer

The Hitachi RXHD printer is claimed to halve solvent use by up to 50% and increase its marking rate by around 10%.

Traditional printers are claimed to use around 5 mL of solvent per hour. The Hitachi RXHD uses 2.5 mL and is suitable for handling high-volume marking.

Another feature is the extended time needed between service calls, which is claimed to be 50% longer.

The printer has a removable control panel which is attached to the printer by a tethered cable. It is claimed that no other ink jet printer has this feature. The cabinet can be located away from the operator, which allows the printer to be put in a cage or cell where there may be less access than on a packing line. The machine can be placed up to 4 m from the control panel.

Hitachi has released two other models: the RXBD, a moderate speed twin-line printer with a 10.4 colour touch screen, and the RXSD, a 2-, 3- or 4-line printer, offering an ethernet port and USB memory backup.
