DuPont PA-Surlyn film for thermoformed packaging

Tuesday, 17 June, 2014 | Supplied by: DuPont Australia Pty Ltd

DuPont has developed a 9-layer film for thermoformed packaging, which provides the same stability as a currently used PA-PE-7-layer film, but weighs 20% less and has material costs which are 10% lower.

The film uses a high-stiffness ionomer sealant resin, which allows for sealing at lower temperatures and provides a broad operating window. The company claims that other advantages include superior perforation and abrasion resistance, an improved fat barrier, a higher gloss finish and improved transparency.
