Performance nutrition powered by Fishbowl: Integrity Food Co.’s growth story

For millions of Australian households, homegrown sports nutrition brand Integrity Food Co. has become a regular feature in the pantry. The brainchild of founder Mat Stillone — now a multiple Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner — the company’s rise from a small Brisbane start-up into a multi-million-dollar business is a standout story in Australian entrepreneurship.
Remarkably, this growth came without outside partnerships or venture capital. Instead, Mat built a household name through what the business describes as a powerful mix of the right ethos and clever decision-making.
Stillone credits the company’s success to a diversified brand portfolio, a strong values-driven approach, and strategic investment in systems that boost efficiency without compromising quality. Central to this strategy was the adoption of automation to cut costs, increase productivity, and uphold world-class food safety and quality standards.
From local start-up to national distribution
Today, Integrity Food Co. moves over 100 tonnes of product every year. Its growth story is anchored in two well-loved natural supplement brands: Protein Supplies Australia and Botanika Blends, both sold online and through nationwide distribution channels.
But Integrity’s reach extends further. Alongside its retail success, the company also runs a thriving wholesale manufacturing arm. This division supplies both specialty retailers and some of the world’s global food giants. This is a dual strategy that has helped the business diversify revenue streams and strengthen its resilience.
Embracing technology for growth
Scaling operations at this level requires more than ambition. For Operations Manager Steven Lord, it comes down to systems that enable clarity and control.
“This progressive mindset drives our adoption of technology to enable growth,” Steven explained. “A key step was implementing advanced inventory management, which led us to Queensland-based Fishbowl.”
Fishbowl quickly became central to Integrity Food Co.’s operations.
“Fishbowl has grown with us,” Steven said. “It’s easy to use and navigate, yet agile enough to manage a complex supply chain and manufacturing process, along with our picking, packing, and distribution approach.”
Customised to fit the business
As Integrity Food Co. expanded, so too did the demands on its systems. Steven says one of the biggest advantages of Fishbowl is its flexibility.
“Fishbowl is always more than happy to look at ideas, help with solutions, and make improvements,” he said. “Particularly with our online retailing, it’s important to make customer orders flow seamlessly into the pick-and-pack process. We’ve refined that with Fishbowl, and it works perfectly with the QR codes we use for batch control. That sort of thing is great for us.”
By tailoring functionality to match Integrity’s needs, the company now enjoys a real-time, holistic view of its inventory. That visibility has empowered the leadership team to make sharper decisions, both immediate operational calls and longer-term strategic moves.
Smarter reporting tools
Another standout feature for Steven is Fishbowl’s reporting capability. While off-the-shelf software can limit users to generic dashboards, Fishbowl offered Integrity Food Co. the flexibility to shape the data around what mattered most to them.
“Fishbowl helps us build the reports we want to see, not just the generic ones,” Steven said. “That’s been a big benefit for us.”
The result is not just better reporting but better planning. With tailored insights, the team can track performance against targets, optimise stock levels, and anticipate market demand more accurately.
Everyday visibility and control
Steven explains that Fishbowl now underpins almost every function of the business.
“Most functions go through Fishbowl in one way or another,” he said. “In my role, I need to run a sales report every morning. I need to know what we sold yesterday so I can give direction to the sales and management team. With Fishbowl, I can see the status of the business at any given time. I can easily tell if we’re hitting our targets, which is critical for daily decision-making.”
The system also improves oversight of production and stock control. Cycle counts, batch tracking, and order reconciliation all feed into Fishbowl, ensuring discrepancies are caught quickly.
“It helps me spot errors in production with our cycle counts or stock counts,” Steven explained. “We can cross-check information, see if we’re buying too much or not enough, and make sure we’re spending money where it’s needed. It even helps pick up if something has been missed and not recorded.”
A platform for sustainable growth
From its humble beginnings to its current scale, Integrity Food Co. has relied on more than just entrepreneurial drive. Its success reflects a willingness to adopt technology early and invest in systems that provide control and clarity.
With Fishbowl embedded across operations, Integrity has not only streamlined processes but also gained the confidence to pursue new opportunities, whether that’s scaling online sales, expanding into wholesale channels, or keeping pace with rising customer demand.
For Steven Lord, the value is clear: “Fishbowl has been critical in giving us the visibility and agility to keep growing without losing sight of what matters, being quality, consistency, and our customers.”
