Pneumatic cylinder with integral hydraulic brake

Sunday, 01 June, 2008 | Supplied by: Metal Work Pneumatic Australia Pty Ltd

Pneumatic actuators are notoriously difficult to control at either slow speeds or when the load varies during the stroke.

To overcome these problems, Metal Work Pneumatic has introduced a pneumatic cylinder with an integral hydraulic brake that gives users accurate slow speed control in either direction and the ability to stop the cylinder mid-stroke.

Conventional designs use either a hydraulic unit mounted in parallel with the pneumatic cylinder joined together or an air over oil system. The design saves space, simplifies mounting and reduces cost by incorporating the two functions in a single unit.
