Friday, 29 March, 2013 | Supplied by: ABB Australia Pty Ltd

ABB’s IRB 460 is a compact palletising robot, designed for end-of-line palletising and bag-palletising applications. Claimed to be the fastest of its kind, the 4-axis robot’s small footprint makes it suitable for fitting into existing packing lines.

The robot is capable of reducing cycle times and raising productivity for end of line and bag palletising. With a reach of 2.4 m and a 110 kg payload capacity, it can reportedly achieve 15% faster cycles than similar machines.

The compact design of the IRB 460 allows pallets to be placed 20% closer to the robot. Using the company’s patented motion-control software, Quick Move and True Move, the robot ensures palletising is carried out with smooth movements and high path accuracy.

The robot’s robust and rigid design reportedly ensures high uptime and low maintenance costs. The IRB 460 features integrated process cabling which helps extend life and reduces wear.
