Electric cup designed to support low-sodium diets
Kirin Holdings Company, Limited (Kirin) has launched two products in its Health Science business — the new ‘Electric Salt Cup’ and a renewed version of the ‘Electric Salt Spoon’.
Both products are designed to enhance the taste and umami of low-sodium foods using electrical stimulation.
The products are now available in Japan via the online store. Retail sales at select lifestyle and electronics stores are scheduled to begin in November.

The ‘Electric Salt’ series is a line of tableware-type devices designed to address the social issue of excessive salt intake, while still meeting customer needs for flavourful, low-sodium meals.
The first product, the ‘Electric Salt Spoon’, was launched in May 2024. Following its release, the ‘Electric Salt Cup’ was developed to meet requests for alternative formats to spoons, especially from users who prefer drinking soup directly.
The upgraded spoon introduces improvements such as a smaller spoon tip, dishwasher compatibility and more intuitive usability.
