Seafood Industry Australia appoints new CEO
Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) has announced the appointment of Veronica Papacosta to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Papacosta has been acting as the Interim CEO since early April and has now accepted her new role as full-time CEO.
“It is with great pleasure the board announces the appointment of Veronica Papacosta as SIA’s new, full-time CEO,” SIA Acting Chair Chauncey Hammond said.
“In her time as Interim CEO, Veronica has already led a number of important initiatives for SIA such as the $4 million federal grant for the Eat Seafood Australia marketing campaign, the national mental health pilot program, the state peak body roundtable, increased membership, strategic partnerships and conducted extensive government engagement.”
Papacosta is a third-generation seafood retailer and said she plans to continue SIA’s work to promote, protect and develop the interests of the Australian seafood industry. “I will continue to improve communications and collaborations within the industry, and also with governments, regulators, along with other sectors and industries. The long-term sustainability and success of SIA and SIA members is my primary goal.
“I thank the SIA board for their unwavering confidence and support for me in my time as Chair and now as CEO. SIA will be better off for the strong board and CEO working relationship.”
